Journey into America's heartland
1780 Miles, from Rouses Point, New York
to East New Orleans, Louisiana
Not a trip per se, but the planning stage of a future trip...

I really agree with the quote on the right, and I don't believe that traveling is merely getting from
point A to point B, but rather taking the long way, the scenic detour, seeing Main Streets of
villages.
This is U.S. Route 11, a 1780 mile trip into the heart of America.
A trip that, one day, I'll take on my Sportster.

(By the way, Freetrip.com calculates it at 1667 miles, but U.S. Route 11 historians peg it at 1780...)
You'll notice that some sections of U.S. 11 have been "doubled over" and turned into an interstate. (I-81 in Virginia, for example)
